The patterns arrest or 'bottle up' the free electrical units that sustain the visible thing. "Jesus taught that we can incorporate the life-giving rays into our mind, body, and affairs through faith. Where physicists merely describe the mechanical presence of life as energy, Jesus taught man how by the exercise of his mind he can make that life obey him. Instead of a universe of blind mechanical forces Jesus showed the universe to be persuaded and directed by intelligence."
Commentary. Fillmore's use of scientific terminology is in no way dated. We now know that free space, empty space, the vacuum, is imbued with quantum energy, vacuum energy, just waiting to be manifested. 'Scientists' originally postulated the 'aether'. Then rejected it. And now are re-postulating it. Draw your own conclusions. Fillmore's use of religious terminology (The Father, Jesus) is based on his strong belief that the Bible is the primary source of ideas on 'metaphysics'. He demonstrates how to read metaphysical truths from the Bible.
Commentary. The Unity Movement began, and remains, a system of instruction in the art and science of healing. "Healing" can be applied to all areas of our lives: health, finances, relationships, talents, outlook on life, etc. The Fillmores, Myrtle and Charles, discovered for themselves techniques for healing that worked, and they instinctively began to share these ideas. Some of these ideas will be shared "in their own words."
